Homeschool Workshop: Panelist Introduction - Michael Crill

Michael Crill has agreed to be a panelist in February and I couldn't be more delighted!

Michael Crill

Michael Crill is a father of six energetic children and has been a stay-at-home Dad for 11 1/2 years ever since the birth of his oldest son. Five more kids followed (including a set of twins) and now their house is nice and full. He has degrees in English Literature, Children’s Library Science, and History, all of which come in handy for helping his kids explore the world in various ways.

From the beginning he and his wife wanted to homeschool their children, and after some early experimentation with other approaches settled on their own version of Unschooling. The kids, each in their own way, love books, board games, chess, hiking, astronomy, music, insects and all sorts of other pursuits, which keep every day interesting. Michael sees his primary role as an Unschooling parent to help equip his children with the resources, tools, and opportunities they need to explore their interests.

Michael blogs somewhat sporadically on TheDadHatter.com, enjoys writing, photography, hiking and is working toward becoming a published author. He’s also active in the stay-at-home Dad community, has run several homeschooling breakouts at the yearly National At-Home Dad Convention, and advocates for dads who are considering homeschooling their children.

Walking the road less traveled as educators is as unnerving as it is exciting. So I create Homeschool events for the local community to connect in person because everyone deserves to find the comfort and confidence that comes with sharing space and ideas with educational allies.
